Additional Info

Award Winner : Nadler Modular Structures

Architectural Excellence : This T-shaped building is comprised of a 6- piece complex totaling: 4 previously owned 12’ x 60’s and 2 new 14’ x 72’ units. The hallway was extended into the newer portion of the building and the newer classrooms were duplicated to mirror the older ones, with more square footage because of its slightly larger size. The T1-11 siding of the old units were painted in colonial white with charcoal brown trim. The new units were painted in the same color scheme to create a seamless structure. The layout was configured so that the newer units face the front parking lot of the school with the main entrance way housed by one of the new 14-wides.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Our customer benefited by making new additions to a pre-owned unit. By using the pre-owned portion as part of their structure they were able to put more money into the newer, larger portion of the building. It was a great option for a small school on a tight budget. The layout of the building was designed to showcase the newer, larger part of the building as the primary entrance way, yet our customer did not have to pay the price of 6 identical, new units. Rather, in using a pre-owned complex as part of the structure they lowered overall costs. In addition, the older units of this building were taken from another school that was also located in Lakewood, NJ, so our customer saved major shipping expenses as well.

Occupied Date : 7/25/2007

Production Start Date : 5/7/2007

Project Location City : Lakewood

Project Location State Name : NJ

Technical Innovation : In the factory, the roof line for the new building needed to be redesigned to compliment the pre-existing water drainage system of the four piece. The drainage flow was redirected so that the entire building would be able to make use of this feature. The exterior siding was also reconstructed to create one fluid structure.
The bathrooms in each classroom were designed for our customer, a religious Jewish school. The sinks were placed on the exterior of the bathroom wall within the classroom so that students could perform ritual hand washing* as required by Jewish law. (*generally not permitted in a bathroom or other impure place.)
