Architectural Excellence : The Yakama Nation of Indians was in need of a custom internet communications facility that would supply Wi-Fi and data services throughout the reservation. A 5,376-square foot facility was designed and constructed to meet the specific needs of the Nation, including a thoughtful design that would effectively house the Nation’s computer systems and associated components. The building design offered ample space including a large data room, network operations center, telecommunications room, laboratory and electric room. A traditional office layout was configured for staff and visitors including a large office area, breakroom, restrooms, conference room and reception/lobby area. To enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the building an exposed timber covered entryway was constructed along with applied gingerbread cement shake siding.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The Yakama Nation was looking for a fast, cost-effective building solution and modular construction was the perfect fit. Modular construction reduced the Nation’s construction schedule significantly, allowing for the Data Center to be up and running much sooner than if traditional construction methods were used. Modular components including the hinged roof were constructed off-site in a controlled environment as site development was happening concurrently, significantly improving the timeframe in which the Nation could occupy the building.
Daylight and occupancy sensors were mounted in both the ceiling and walls throughout the building to save on energy costs while helping the Nation meet agency and federal energy savings mandates.
The Nation worked with one contractor (Pacific Mobile) providing full, turnkey construction services. This allowed for the project to be completed much more effectively and resulted in direct cost savings for the customer.

Technical Innovation : Special static protection was required throughout the building due to the high level of technological components. The floors were equipped with static dissipative Armstrong tile and static smart carpet, providing permanent static control.
It was required that the building entry and data rooms were highly secure so they were equipped with an array of the latest networking technology, including electronic card readers on the doors.
A hinged roof system was designed and finished at the factory allowing for the roof to be lowered and shipped flat to meet the 15-foot height restriction. Once the building arrived onsite, a crane was used to erect the rafters and complete the entire roof within one day. The result was a structure that had a finish roof height of 20 feet from grade.
The HVAC design utilized three different split system units to strictly control the heating and cooling in specific zones throughout the building.
