Architectural Excellence : Visalia Medical Clinic was leasing a mobile imaging trailer from an Imaging company. The mobile unit was coming in a couple of times per month, but at substantial cost. The customer was coming to the end of their lease on the mobile unit and wanted to replace it with a fixed site building solution. This is a diagnostic imaging facility to house a 1.5T MRI magnet from Siemens. The new imaging building had to be set within 1' of the existing hospital facility and have the entry door connect to the existing waiting room for the hospital. A small portion of the exterior of the new imaging building needed to connect to an interior wall of the hospital around the main entrance door in order to connect to the existing waiting room.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : A permanent imaging building addition for the medical center proved to be a cost-effective solution for Visalia Medical Clinic, as opposed to a mobile imaging center that was being brought to the medical center as needed. This modular solution was not only able to seamlessly integrate with the existing medical center, but it was also faster way for the medical center to expand their imaging capabilities – therefore generating more revenue for the medical center.

Technical Innovation : The new imaging building is a steel and concrete structure with the RF shielding and magnetic shielding pre-installed in the factory. The mounting bolts for the Siemens magnet were installed in the factory prior to the building shipping to site using a pre-made bolt pattern template. The building was set up with an equipment room, scan room, control room and (2) dressing room. ModSpace site installed the EIFS on site to match the design of the existing facility.
