Architectural Excellence : Despite construction during the New England winter months, the Trumbull High School 4488 square foot building was completed ahead of schedule. Consisting of four science laboratories, complete rest rooms, central corridor and connecting walkway to the existing school this project was devised to alleviate over crowding and eliminate course disruption during the renovation of the existing school laboratories. Site development, plumbing, electrical, data/com, mechanical and ancillary site work was inclusive in this “Turn-Key” project. M Space supplied all desks, chairs, white and tack boards. This includes the birch cabinets, acid resistant counters, and laboratory sinks.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The studs were oversized to allow for increased insulation from R-11 to R-19 which exceeds the state energy requirements. The HVAC system utilizes four (4) roof mounted units that are gas fired which reduces the overall operating costs. The windows utilize double pained glass and all doors are fully insulated. Each science laboratory has a programmable T-stat.

Technical Innovation : The modular building was built to meet the strict building codes of the state of Connecticut. In meeting these requirements, the roof for the building was built with a half inch per foot slope. The roof slope was created on-site utilizing tapered insulation topped with a 60 Mil EPDM roof. This was the direct result of the state transportation regulations that do not allow for over height units to be transported within the state. Since the building was completed during the winter the site installation of the roof required tenting and a conditioned environment for proper curing of the adhesive.
