Truckee Restroom Building
Additional Info
Award Winner : Blazer Industries, Inc.
Architectural Excellence : This building was designed to meet the need for restroom facilities at a local public ballpark. The heavy timber roof framing system with exposed timber trusses was used to create a roof structure capable of supporting the high snow loads that are typical at this site while being sensitive to the local
architecture.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Energy efficiency was not part of the design criteria as this is an unheated summer use only structure. By using modular construction methods to build this facility the owner was able to meet the need for a new restroom in spite of the short building season available in Truckee and take advantage of the efficiencies of factory built construction while reducing exposure to a large part of the construction labor to prevailing wage rules.
