Architectural Excellence : The Trailer in the North Area, or "TINA," supports the 309th Software Engineering Group (SWEG)'s mission of aircraft weapons systems software development and integration.
The 74,000 square-foot building expands SWEG's space by 450 seats, 32 offices and 18 conference rooms, and features flexible classification configurations. Users enjoy two commons areas with decompression space, outdoor atriums, and "funky" color schemes that contrast with the seriousness of its military objectives.
TINA's unified, aesthetic exterior harmonizes with the other base facilities and the local environment, and its aesthetics and amenities are intended to help SWEG attract and retain top software and engineering talent.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Modular’s factory fabrication decreased overall costs. Labor and materials came in at an estimated 25 percent under the cost of a site-built facility.
Of particular interest to this client was an estimated time savings between 25 percent to 50 percent compared to onsite construction, as work progressed simultaneously onsite and at the factory.
In addition, the project's partnership with local contractors reduced travel expenses for designers, engineers, architects, contractors, and project supervisors.

Green Building Description : At the foot of the Wasatch Mountains and nearly a mile above sea level, summers at Hill Air Force Base are hot and dry, and the winters are snowy and freezing. Temperatures range from 22 to 91 degrees F.
This wide temperature and precipitation range requires robust, energy-efficient environmental controls to ensure user comfort and control operating costs.
While not a participant in the Green Building Rating Program, this installation benefited from all the advantages of modular construction that pertain to energy efficiency: robust construction suitable for trailering results in stiffer structures, reducing settling that may open air gaps and cracks, tighter and stronger seals between components enhance energy conservation, and tight integration of HVAC and insulation components with structural components during fabrication.
All of these factors helped optimize indoor air quality and acoustic environment, thermal efficiency, and energy costs in the demanding Utah environment

Technical Innovation : Thanks to the efficiency of modular fabrication, the project was fast tracked. Only 45 days after approval of drawings, even before the foundation was completed, modular units were being staged on site.
Nadler and its partners worked side by side with the foundation crew with such tight integration that all 108 units were installed in just five months, before the winter of 2020/2021 would make outdoor work more difficult and expensive.
The client is very pleased with the flexibility of modular. To them, it's an investment in the future, as it can be reconfigured, expanded, or relocated to fit the military base's evolving requirements.
