Architectural Excellence : Coal Valley, IL is a place that conjures up images of a small town with railroads hauling coal to parts far away. They partnered with NewGround to bring cutting edge design and technology in banking to this community. Creating a branch bank that was finished in brick and EIFS, accented with Tuscan columns inside and out, the structure brought a fresh new look to the neighborhood.
The site layout offered ample parking to customers, easy access on and off the site, long, sweeping stack lanes for drive-up services and a sleek free-standing ATM enclosure for 24 hour banking highlighting the Bank’s new presence.
The interior design created a unique brand. Hard surfaces were tastefully blended with carpeted areas. Ceramic tiles with accent colors laid on a 45 degree angle transitioned to curved carpeting to differentiate unique areas of service. The contemporary look was used to showcase the new age of banking, while the history wall features the Bank’s origins dating back to 1863.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The ability to control costs through factory-built methodology was one reason that Port Byron State Bank chose NewGround to erect their facility. By buying materials in bulk, having materials readily available, and building the structure in an astonishing three weeks allowed us to meet the Bank’s established budget.
Because the amount of construction remaining to be completed at the site was minimal, the adverse effect of very high local labor costs was mitigated. The Bank was ecstatic about the high quality level of the structure, the speed with which it was completed and the resulting overall investment into the project.
They will continue to benefit for years to come from the operating efficiency of the building due to the multiple zoned HVAC systems, high energy efficiency gas furnaces, high SEER rated air conditioning systems, Low-E argon filled windows, the use of instantaneous in-line water heaters, and the fully insulated walls, roof and floor system.

NewGround’s Experience Retail Design featured a curved three person Financial Services workstation where staff welcomed customers and directed them to a custom teller pod for quick and efficient transactions, a dual station on-line banking area, private office suites for account openings and loan functions, or a conference room for lengthier financial transactions and closings. A spacious waiting area with ample seating, coffee bar, and digital plasma screen with the Bank’s own custom messaging is used to promote new products and familiarize Customers with savings and investment opportunities.
Rave reviews and new deposits from the townsfolk at the Grand Opening far exceeding the Bank’s own projections and were testimonial to this successful design.
