Architectural Excellence : The Lodges on Vashon project is unique not only for its location on Vashon Island, but for the architectural features incorporated into the design. The 17 standalone modular units are comprised of 8 Courtyard Lodges, 8 Meadow Lodges and 1 Public House. The design reflects a contemporary building that is integrated into the island surroundings and culture, and is visually and spiritually connected to the island despite the fact that the building was constructed away from the site. The architect utilized a mixture of contemporary and nature elements, ranging from metal roofs and siding, to cement lap siding, to real cedar planks installed at various locations.
The Lodges were designed to allow residents to directly react with the island nature through the provision of fully glazed shower doors at certain lodging units & landscape designed to serve this purpose while maintaining privacy.
Lodges are additionally equipped with well-appointed wet bars.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : All of the units were manufactured inside a weather controlled facility in Idaho during the winter weather months. This approach benefited the project and its clients by:
-Eliminating the weather driven delays that are accompanied during the winter season in Washington State while enabling the site contractor to perform the site work simultaneously with the factory production. This allowed a shorter completion date, resulting in less construction costs and quicker revenue generation.
-The modular manufacturer through its national purchase power was able to achieve a higher value to the client by conducting the value engineering process.
-The off-site build approach greatly reduced the need for multiple crews on the island which provided greater savings to the client by minimizing the costs and time associated with shipping materials and labor travel.
