Architectural Excellence : The school site offered very little space for temporary single story classrooms, so the customer opted to lease two-story buildings while remodeling at the main campus. The need for twelve fully functioning classrooms presented a modular project unlike any other in northern New Jersey. The two-story educational facilities consist of eight 12x34 modules and eight 12x66 modules. Each module is equipped with restrooms. All classrooms have carpeted floors and tile in restrooms. The storage and coat closet, complete with children’s cubby storage is located between the classrooms. The exterior of the buildings is ribbed steel siding.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The buildings had to be relocatable and will likely be moved to a different site on the school property for future use. When relocated, they can be used as eight separate buildings and can be set as single story or two-story. Cost savings was also found in this project by using energy efficient lighting fixtures and bulbs throughout. The factory also pre-installed all bulletin boards and white boards to minimize on site work. This type of building offering the time savings and restricted construction area could only be accomplished with modular.

Technical Innovation : From planning and fabrication to installation and use, this project took less than eight months. The buildings needed to be installed in a tight space and meet a tight timeframe. From the side of the building to the street, there was only 8-12 ft. Transportation of the units to the site required the street to be closed, since it is on a busy downtown main street. The closure was able to be minimized to a half day. Standard New Jersey classroom specifications were met. Some of the features include permanent stem wall poured concrete foundation, t-grid ceiling, steel doors and wall mount HVAC. These buildings required quick installation, therefore the white boards and bulletin boards were pre-installed before delivery. Once the building was set, there was only one carpet seam to match.
