Additional Info

Award Winner : Sustainable Modular Management, Inc.

Architectural Excellence : The building is comprised of six classrooms and two media labs. The colors and entryways were designed to blend in with the surrounding campus which is a red traditional brick. Each module is 14' x 68' with a central corridor running down the center of the structure. For the exterior we constructed architectural canopies of the decks and ramps, landscaping and a steel rod iron fence surrounding the perimeter of the site.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : The building was constructed to 2018 IBC. While the state of Missouri does not require 2018 IBC, the school and Sustainable believed the increase in energy efficiency would out way the cost compared to the previous IBC's. Additionally the green house installed adjacent allows students to learn and understand the benefits the environment can provide.

Green Building Description : While this building is not LEED certified, the energy efficiencies of the building envelop, HVAC equipment and light add to the electrical cost savings of the structure.

Technical Innovation : One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the civil work. Because of the seismic conditions of the area, we encountered very large boulders that had be drilled and removed prior to pouring the foundations. Further the city of St. Louis required a vast storm drainage system in order to permit the building. An additional feature provided with this project was a green space including a green house that sits adjacent to the building which allows students to learn outside for the agriculture and science studies.
