Terrebonne Parish Schools
Additional Info
Award Winner : M Space Holdings LLC
Architectural Excellence : M Space delivered six modular classroom buildings to six different sites in Terrebonne Parish. To accommodate the customer’s desire to upgrade the buildings in the future, an overhang was installed that would allow the schools to attach a brick facade at a later date. The modular buildings were connected to the existing school with canopied walkways over existing sidewalks. Each building was set on a floating slab that was reinforced in areas with steel re-bar to support the building despite the soft ground conditions. Boys, girls and faculty restrooms are included and each classroom has a sink and drinking fountain. The buildings were designed to sustain 140 mph winds. Vinyl flooring runs throughout the building along with energy efficient fluorescent lighting and suspended acoustical ceilings. The building placement is designed so concrete handicap accessible ramps face the existing school buildings.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Terrebonne Parish experienced a cost savings by working with M Space to complete six buildings for six locations. The customer had no additional expenses relating to the modular buildings after the hurricane, and viewed this as an additional savings. The buildings weathered the hurricane so well and the customer was so pleased with M Space’s outstanding performance and customer service that they recently ordered four more 9-plex buildings.
