Architectural Excellence : This renovation and reuse building project gave a much needed facelift to the original school building. The 18,544 square foot structure is comprised of two separate modular buildings. The modular buildings provide space for: nine classrooms, two group instruction rooms, a media and science lab, as well as primary restrooms and changing rooms. In addition the buildings include space for administrative offices, a conference room, additional office space, a nurses office, physical education office, storage space and a mechanical room. The space was designed to accommodate 225 students. The interior was renovated with vinyl covered gypsum wall board, vinyl tile flooring, and acoustical ceiling tile. The exterior was converted from duratemp siding to HardiPanel siding, and exterior steel doors with panic hardware were provided. The buildings assimilate nicely with the rural landscape, which is a common theme in the surrounding area of Sparta, NJ.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : With minor modifications, and acceptance of the buildings floor plan, interior fit and finish, and interior flow, Williams Scotsman leveraged its national purchasing power to buy material that it stocks for everyday use in its branch locations. This helped to keep cost down, and ultimately Williams Scotsman was able to pass the cost-savings along to the customer.

Project Location State Name : NJ

Technical Innovation : The two buildings include one 11-unit complex and one 8-unit complex. With minor modifications, Williams Scotsman was able to include additional bathroom fixtures to both the girls, and boys restroom facilities. The interior hallways are recessed to accommodate lockers, presenting a continuous wall without any visual obstructions. Williams Scotsman implemented a parapet roof facade to complement the other buildings in the surrounding township. The roof also acts as a screening for the rooftop HVAC units. The foundation is a recessed crawl space, which helped keep the modular building entrances at grade level. As a result decks and ramps were not needed, and the building is a permanent structure as a result.
