Starbucks Coffee Torre Galicia
Additional Info
Award Winner : Ruca Panel
Architectural Excellence : Starbucks’ building is located within the complex that corresponds to the skyscraper of a commercial bank in Buenos Aires. It consists of 2 modules totaling 400 sq. ft. The prefabricated counter is entirely made of structural steel profiles; the store is in the first floor and the second floor includes a sector that provides support to the first one, both restrained by an external deck that works as building expansion.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The store is located in a place of high public circulation: Buenos Aires’ financial downtown. Off-site project performance allowed saving considerable costs given the relevant labor safety and working time restrictions in force. Another advantage of the project was its short 80-day term for complete project execution and additional possibilities -despite its permanent modular building nature- in the event of potential relocation needs.

Technical Innovation : For materials contrast, we chose a wood and irregular concrete tiles covering; they merge with thin black aluminum frames offering a sophisticated –while industrial- appearance. The main purpose of the cafeteria’s design was to create a complete experience of each aspect involved in coffee production and consumption. It caters as a coffee shop, a cafeteria and a restaurant. Given existing limitations for accessing the premises, the ceiling was made with roof panels that were built, transported and assembled independently.
