Cost Energy Effectiveness : The configuration of these units on this campus expansion created efficiencies that are directly attributable to the expansions’ cost effectiveness. The units being stacked side by side reduces the extent of the exterior skin needed to be installed as compared conventional free standing units. Additionally, this increases the overall buildings thermal resistance to heat by reducing the extent and square footage of exterior walls. All buildings were fabricated from non-combustible materials thereby enhancing the building performance of this campus expansion. The windows have impact resistant dual glazing. The HVAC system has an Energy Management System that is linked to the existing campus and a heat recovery ventilation system that can ensure energy savings.

Technical Innovation : The buildings were set at grade thereby eliminating the use of any space depleting ramps and decking. This enhancement also created a more inviting atmosphere for the entrants to each classroom space. The 3 part exterior cement plaster was completely installed at site to further enhance the appearance that these buildings were to be permanent. The interior environment came complete with all of the most current low voltage systems like automatic fire alarm, Internet LAN systems as well as security. Much of this had been installed prior to delivery and installing at the school campus.

Architectural Excellence : Historically within the state of Florida when a school needs to grow utilizing relocatable classroom space they are configured in a sprawling manner where each building stands alone. This campus addition was progressive in how it was configured as a 6 building cluster creating courtyard spaces interlaced with student circulation. This expansion creates 39 new classrooms, 2 computer labs, a cafeteria space and teacher preparation areas. This configuration allows efficient use of land and building materials.
