Sitrans San Antonio Alto
Additional Info
Award Winner : ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd.
Architectural Excellence : As Sitrans Logistics’ office was aging, a new budget-friendly building that fit many amenities was required. The project, 33 units in total, was 85% built using modular construction for less time on site. Old infrastructure like low bridges, phone lines and narrow roads required special routes to be planned to accommodate the height of the buildings. The administrative offices were built with 14 units for an open and modern look. The meeting rooms, training rooms and gym were built with 5 units, and with the dining room, they form an industrial park with walkways that work with the client’s logistics depot for a cohesive look. All components share the same construction system, so they can easily be adapted to different uses as needs change. The client’s request for a modern office was achieved using industrial metal cladding in graphite and a façade on the roof that concealed the slope of the roof. The project includes a soccer field and green areas for staff relaxation.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : To reduce time on site and minimize costly disruptions to the business operation, 85% of the building was constructed remotely in our manufacturing plant. The cost of the materials was considered for client’s budget, and transportation was carefully thought out to avoid delays with the older infrastructures of the city and cost effective. To meet the client’s budget, standard accessories, like door and windows were used, to ensure availability.
Green Building Description : Compared to traditionally built offices, this project required significantly less time to finish and less time on site, and created less impact on the staff and the surroundings as a result. Separate roofs create air flow between them, which reduces energy needed for indoors climate control. Large windows also help to reduce energy consumption.

Technical Innovation : In order to solve the problems of mildew and mold that the humidity in the area causes, Steel was used instead of other materials, and steel studs and metal roof were used throughout the building. This also helps improve the longevity of the materials, reducing the need for replacement in the future. Also, to improve ventilation, we constructed two separate roofs with space between them to allow for air flow and temperate climate within the building. The first roof was built in the plant, while the second was built on-site. Large thermal windows allow for better thermal comfort while reducing energy consumption.
