Technical Innovation : The key element for the exterior was to create a clean, sleek outer surface with large, protruding windows on both sides of the structure. The interior was required to serve as a functional, comfortable environment for employees and customers alike.
A crucial requirement for the Scale House was the inclusion of two sliding windows, on either side of the structure. It was essential the windows be designed to protrude from the structure, allowing easy comfortable access to drive up customers.
Building protruding windows on both sides of the unit provided some difficulties. The box style windows required a frameless unit be built. For support, creative carpentry techniques were implemented, utilizing joist hinges among other additional materials to ensure stability of the unique protruding windows.
