Architectural Excellence : This building is fashioned after an Olde English Cottage with a Norman Rockwell theme. The high pitched roof and multiple gables are covered with scalloped textured shingles. The gable ridges have a copper outline achieved with metal flashing. Siding is lapboard with scalloped trim below gables and authentic looking brick veneer skirting at the bottom. The clock tower looms 20 ft. over the town square and has a working clock. The interior has a combination of bead board and picture framing on walls and ceiling. Antique chandelier type fixtures grace the atmosphere with light. Built in bookshelves and antique articles decorate the interior which has a life sized Norman Rockwell caricature and a beautifully adorned Christmas tree. The fireplace adds warmth and simulated wood floors hold up to traffic. Base cabinets support a sales counter and add to the functionality of this Santa photo center. Add a realistic Santa and you have the most unique Santa Photo Shop in the country!
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Because the building was built as a seasonal installation, it needed to be relocatable with cost effective methods of finishing the interior and exterior. Floors are simulated wood in easy care vinyl. Interior walls can be touched up with matching paint. Exterior finishes are simple to match and require little care. There are two custom ramps, inlaid with pavers to simulate a cobblestone pathway. The windows and doors are large and allow the right amount of light during the day. Can lights are recessed in the ceiling to accent natural light. Due to the size of the building, an electric heating unit in the fireplace is the only climate control. An HVAC system was not necessary, since it’s not used in the summer. Festive holiday garland is added on site to frame the building and it becomes the centerpiece in this outdoor mall. Once the season is past, the Santa House is removed and stored in anticipation of next year’s use.

Technical Innovation : This project was designed, engineered, fabricated, delivered and installed in less than two months. Only factory built innovation could achieve this impossible task. The gable roofs with dormers are separate modules and are backlit to give the appearance of a second story. The client needed a centerpiece for an upscale outdoor mall that would compliment a town square and accommodate a photo shop. Since there would be high traffic, the building had to be built as a permanent building and yet be temporary as it would only be on property for the holidays. This was achieved through constructing modular components on skid mount frames and using separate modules for gable roofs, clock tower and dormers. Special features include: oversized steel doors at two locations, dual pane French windows, extensive interior casework and reusable bricklike skirting material. Marriage line connections are achieved prior to attaching the clock tower for less intrusion and wear on interior finishes.
