River Parishes Dialysis Center
Additional Info
Award Winner : Resun Corporation
Architectural Excellence : Executing MedBuild/Resun's Concurrent Construction methodology, River Parishe's new state-of-the-art dialysis treatment facility was being constructed within an environmentally controlled manufacturing facility, while ground breaking on the new site was being done in LaPlace. By leveraging the technology of modular construction, Resun and River Parishes were able to overcome the challenges of working in a location with very limited resources. Within 84 calendar days, a new, free-standing hemodialysis center was constructed and fully operational. The architecturally finished exterior, complemented by the coordinating concrete steps and ramps, accentuate the permanent "look and feel" of this rapidly deployed space solution.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : For those requiring critical medical treatment in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the devastation meant more then simply being displaced - it put lives at risk. The loss of the Dialysis Treatment Center in LaPlace meant that hundreds of individuals would have to go without their much needed hemodialysis treatments. Thanks to the rapid pace of modular construction, River Parishes was able to partner with MedBuild/Resun to respond to the urgent needs of their patients and construct a state-of-the-art facility in less then 90 days.

Technical Innovation : MedBuild/Resun worked very closely with the River Parishes architectural team to design a free-standing facility that had all the aesthetics of a site built structure, but would utilize all the advantages of component construction methodology. At the same time, the unique technological requirements that a building of this type demands would not be compromised during the construction of the units thanks to the careful attention to detail demonstrated by all team members. The research proved invaluable, as the design plans and specifications were released to the MedBuild/Resun manufacturing team and the component construction process was initiated.
