Architectural Excellence : As a critical access hospital, River Hospital had limited beds for reimbursement. In order to free up more beds for OR and ambulatory surgery patients, the hospital needed a primary care facility to support the services-and it needed it quickly. ModSpace’s healthcare team, MedBuild, was able to quickly provide River Hospital a 4,600 sq. ft. modular clinic with 12 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, physicians' offices, a waiting room and administrative space. The River Hospital Clinic houses six doctor providers and will also be used for Post Op care, a Clean Procedure room for stitches and wound care, and OB-GYN treatments.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Choosing the modular solution with ModSpace’s MedBuild team allowed River Hospital to meet the tight time constraints they were under to expand and keep their doctor group within the hospital system. And although River Hospital ultimately decided to do a design-build solution for their clinic, having pre-designed layouts to choose from took a lot of the guesswork out of their building design needs. River Hospital saw purchasing the new modular building as a long term investment and a better financial option for serving the community needs.

Technical Innovation : At first, River Hospital explored ModSpace’s readily available inventory of medical clinic buildings, which provides a fast turnaround with options for a 1-doc, 2-doc, or 4-doc configuration. When River Hospital realized the design of a modular building was essentially the same as what they could get with conventional construction, it made sense to purchase the building as a permanent clinic and build it alongside the hospital. The plan involved developing an adjacent site for the new clinic that would be a seamless expansion for visiting clinic patients. The five modules were assembled on site in just a few days – causing minimal disruption to the hospital environment.
