Technical Innovation : The two exterior doors are glass store front doors. Both vestibule doors are solid core wood doors with a 24”x24” glass. Both sets of doors have ADA push pads and automatic openers. All interior doors are solid core wood doors with steel jambs and sidelights. Both classrooms were designed to have a plasma screen mounted on each of the 3 walls in both classrooms. The 4th wall in each classroom has a 22’ long dry erase Walltalker® installed on it. Each classroom has 8 floor outlet receptacles installed for students to plug in laptops while in class. The 12”x48” windows along the backside of the modular were designed to allow natural light in and keep vandals from accessing the building.

Architectural Excellence : Regis University’s 6,888 sf modular building consists of 2-1,080 classrooms, restrooms for men and women, 18 professor offices and a resource center. There is a 5 foot wide corridor that begins between the classrooms and continues around to all offices. Ceiling heights are 9 foot throughout the building. Exterior siding is staccato board with colors matching existing buildings on the campus. All the professor offices have a sidelight next to the interior door so to have a line of sight into each office even if their door is closed.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Five rooftop HVAC’s were installed to provide variable heating/cooling zones for the different uses in the building. Energy Recovery Ventilators were installed in the Classrooms for added airflow when the classrooms were maxed out with students. Three variable air volumes were also added to each of the 3 office HVAC’s allowing additional air flow to individual offices as required. The exterior walls are 2x6 with R19 insulation for added efficiency. All interior walls were designed with R11 poly-encapsulated acoustical insulation for sound insulation. The interior walls around each classroom have an added sound insulation barrier to achieve a 54 STC rating. All corridors have a 1-hour fire rating throughout the modular. There are vestibules at each entrance for added efficiency to the HVAC system.
