Architectural Excellence : The 55,785 square foot Ramada Inn boasts a range of finishing options, architectural features and material options that help to complement the natural beauty and surrounding area of the resort town of Revelstoke, British Columbia (BC). The four storey, 85 room hotel features a variety of room types, from a standard hotel room to suites that are complete with a whirlpool tub and kitchenette. Hotel amenities include banquet facilities, event space, an eating bar and a large site-built swimming pool and hot tub area that blends seamlessly with the 64 modules to create a comfortable, modern space. Taking weather variation in the Rocky Mountains into consideration, the exterior of the hotel combines high quality, highly durable and maintenance free elements of faux stone and wood.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : In addition to the usual offsite construction benefits of an expedited construction timetable, cost certainty and an accelerated return on investment, many of the environmentally conscious aspects of the building’s design also reduce the day-to-day operating expenses. Dual pane low-E windows were used to promote energy savings and climate comfort inside the hotel, while occupancy sensors ensure electricity is not wasted in unused areas. In addition, concerns with trade availability due to a limited trade pool in the region were mitigated by using offsite construction, allowing the hotel to open in time for the busy summer tourist season.

Technical Innovation : Offsite construction allowed our client to open the hotel much faster than site-built construction with the added benefits of superior quality, greater certainty and a better hotel guest experience due to an inherently quieter building. Following sustainable construction practices, several energy efficient and environmentally conscious aspects were incorporated into the building’s design to reduce long term environmental impact. Energy efficient appliances, increased thermal insulation that exceeds the National Energy Code of Canada for buildings, additional rainscreen, water based paints and water based adhesives were all used to promote environmental stewardship. As well, by utilizing existing space outside our Kamloops, BC facility, we were able to further minimize onsite activity and lessen our environmental impact on the hotel site.
