Architectural Excellence : This dental clinic was designed for the Putnam County Department of Health. The exterior lap siding hardi panel and shingle roof were chosen to compliment the surrounding medical complex buildings color and design. Careful steps were taken to ensure air, water and fiber optic lines were all placed and installed to meet the requirements of the state as well as the needs of the dental clinic. Close attention to detail was necessary as the lines had to be placed with an accuracy of ¼ of an inch. The interior was designed to provide patients a comfortable experience with relaxing colors, wood floors and state of the art dental equipment. The facility provides for a spacious waiting area and restroom, three exam/operating rooms, doctor’s office, lab area, break room, administrative reception office and technical data fiber optic secured room. The building was installed on a permanent foundation and includes a site built porch and ramp deck system with custom designed handrails.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : The Putnam County Health Department ultimately chose M Space and modular construction because of the speed advantage over traditional construction. Having the building completed faster allowed them to start seeing patients earlier, resulting in a more rapid return on their investment. The design concepts that were incorporated into this building can easily be duplicated at other Health Department sites in the future, reducing bid and building design time, resulting in cost savings for the department. The Health Department also saves money and energy by having the through wall, mobile x-ray equipment. There was less of an initial investment and having less units plugged in and running is more energy efficient. The HVAC units installed are also energy efficient. To compliment these units the doors and windows have tinted glass. The glass lets light in, but keeps the heat out, reducing HVAC costs and energy usage.

Technical Innovation : The design of the facility meets all code requirements for Florida as well as the medical community for its occupancy and operation as a public facility. The building was constructed to accommodate the latest dental equipment. Everything is state of the art with gas, air and water lines tied directly into the equipment. X-ray machines were installed between each of the exam/operating rooms. The machines are housed in cabinets with doors opening into each room. The x-ray machine has a retractable arm that allows the machine to reach the dental chair in two rooms. In addition, each room has a large window for patients to view the scenic area surrounding the building.
