Architectural Excellence : The PAPROC project is an office and living accommodation consisting of 11 steel framed modified metal containers. The exterior of the complex was clad in pre-painted and profiled steel siding to eliminate the look of a steel box type structure. Added to this is a pitched roof system with off set coloring that provides a contrast in the overall look of the structure and add residential type drainage by means eaves trough and downspouts. The interior was designed to provide a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment for the occupants. The project utilizes pre-finished wall and trim material to aid in the productivity all the while providing a pleasing environment. Natural lighting was gained by installing sky lights in the roofing system.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : As a rule, the shipping costs of over dimensional modules in the European market tend to make custom projects unviable. In the PAPROC 2007 project, standard metal containers were modified in the factory to allow for standard shipping dimensions and the ability to pre-pack the peaked roof and exterior wall finishes. The roof and wall systems were completed at the factory in module configuration for reducing the costs of installation. The utilization of energy efficient plumbing, heating and electrical fixtures provide the client with a viable and cost effective building.

Technical Innovation : The adaptation of standard sea bearing metal framed container required the design to incorporate modern and efficient mechanical and electrical systems to alleviate the ongoing concern for energy efficiency. The heating system is boiler supplied central hot water system that required inter connections at site and ultimately reduces costs to a minimum. The plumbing and electrical systems use low volume, low energy fixtures that also reduce end user costs. The complex also required specific structural requirements that included mechanical fastening systems to tie the building to the client supplied foundation in order to provide stability in a high velocity wind environment.
