Oversize Bike Shelter
Additional Info
Award Winner : Provincial Partitions, Ltd.
Architectural Excellence : Provincial Partitions has long provided Smoke Shelters for a variety of clients but when approached by Bird Construction to provide a Bike Shelter for one of their clients, it would be the first one of its kind for Provincial Partitions, and especially at the size required. Using standard building materials readily available in the shop, two modules were created using lightweight aluminum, which is easily disassembled if relocation is required, along with tempered glass used at both ends. The Bike Shelter is located within close proximity to a large food processing plant that it serves, along with an identical Smoke Shelter also built to the same dimensions and specs.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Two 9’x30’ pre-fabricated units were delivered pre-assembled with a minimum of on site assembly required. Made from standard, in stock aluminum pre-painted and pre-glazed welded tubular aluminum frames, along with tempered safety glass, enabled keeping costs to a minimum. Base plates were included on all shelter components providing easy anchoring.
