Architectural Excellence : The OJSC Lukincholot is a specialized camp accommodation known as a sleigh camp designed to operate in the most extreme and isolated conditions. The arctic tundra of Siberia is the end destination of this accommodation facility. The intent of the kitchen, dining and sleeping portion of the sleigh camp is provide each occupant with relative comfort in the most extreme environment. This is accomplished by utilizing every possible modern convenience that mimic a person’s home life as well as installing finishing materials that are aesthetically pleasing to provide a sense of comfort and ease. Access to the sleigh camp is achieved through helicopter only and as such the roofs are painted reflective black for location identification from the air.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : The most important criteria for the operation of this facility is 100% factory completion that includes all system testing and sign off. The sleigh camp is designed and built to be “plug and play” All mechanical, plumbing and electrical fixtures are chosen for their low volume and low energy use abilities. Essentially, the low volume and low energy fixtures limit and control the client need to reload on natural resources.

Technical Innovation : The accommodation facility utilizes integral steel sleighs designed to move the camp connected in a series of modules, essentially a train on the tundra. The sleighs themselves are specifically designed to limit the amount of penetration on the permafrost to prevent significant and long term environmental damage. The entire service needs of the facility are self contained. The power is derived from two diesel generators with the appropriate electrical switch gear and “quick connect” plugs for ease of mobilization. The domestic water is uses snow melting boilers to supplement the water system and is flushed through an integral sewage holding tank system built into the structural framework
