Architectural Excellence : Horizon North’s signature stained wood trusses outlining our natural stone front entrance rests in the Kearl Lake, Alberta area. The entrance boasts two large boot rooms and a lobby reminiscent of a hotel with natural stone, comfortable seating areas, and gas fireplaces. The central core of the building was designed to provide our guests with all the comforts of home including lounges, games rooms, and a gym facility. Our certified chefs and kitchen create outstanding meals in our fourteen unit kitchen. We have elevated our dining experience by showcasing a variety of seating arrangements including booths and bar seating. Through this design we are able to create more depth, character, and options for our guests. We wanted to create an efficient and convenient check in/out for our guests so we implemented a secure luggage storage facility and state of the art flight center.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : An integrated approach towards this project with our in house design team and quality control division ensured modular building methods were implemented to the highest levels of quality and functionality. To meet our requirements for cost efficiency, the building envelope materials utilized were designed for low maintenance and long term durability. Maximum R values were achieved in the roof, wall, and floor systems. Energy efficient appliances, lighting, and HVAC units contribute to the cost saving approach for this unique structure.

Technical Innovation : The North Sands lodge location was unique in that the land we were provided with had a gradual slope. In order to further limit our environmental impact on the land we adopted a terrace structure design. Most of this construction was able to be completed at our manufacturing facility through the use of innovative geographical mapping technologies allowing us to build more efficiently and effectively. In order to reduce the risk of our guests smoking in unwanted areas, Horizon North has installed smoking gazebos. These limit the risk of hazards such as fires and other environmental damages.
