Architectural Excellence : The Automotive Testing Laboratory consists of 2357.5 Square feet of new space for Shinsung, a Korean company which works as a supplier of automotive parts and materials. The temporary building makes use of three existing walls within the building and forms six individual rooms. The main room is an 23’x62’ open laboratory with three offices attached ranging from 8’ x 10’ to 12’ x10’ in size. Next to the offices is the 10’ x 30’ meeting space, providing ample room for conference calls and board meetings, and the final room is an 8’ 10’ storage area accessible via a custom sliding glass door. The main goal behind the design of the space was to provide the manufacturer with convenient office and laboratory space that could attach to their existing offices and while still fitting into the space adjacent to their current manufacturing area. The building utilizes a white wall panel skin with white extrusions, giving the lab area a sleek and clean aesthetic.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The modular testing lab is configured entirely from Panel Built’s Gypsum/Gypsum sandwich wall panel with a polystyrene core. The panels have a vinyl skin for additional durability and an easy to clean surface. Panel Built’s Gypsum-Polystyrene-Gypsum panel is oftentimes considered standard because it fits a variety of applications from basic modular office systems to even certain cleanrooms, and the combination of materials make it one of the most affordable options Panel Built offers. With the design of lab/office system incorporating existing walls into the design, the end customer was able to save on the cost of materials. If the lab and meeting spaces need to be expanded in the future, Panel Built’s wall systems allow for a full reconfiguration and relocating of the wall panels to fit their new needs.
Green Building Description : The modular space provides a controlled and comfortable environment for the facility that's able to offer a space that is not only appropriate for meetings and office work, but also, vital testings on their products.

Technical Innovation : The new laboratory and office space provide a semi-permanent space solution for the auto-part manufacturer. Despite it’s temporary nature in the product, the work space offers all the standard amenities that would be found in a stick-built office. Utilizing our panel and binder-post system to connect each wall partition to another, all parts, panels, and extrusions were pre-cut in Panel Built’s facilities, allowing for rapid assembly and minimal waste on site. These factors were crucial for the project in order to reduce the disturbance to the facility as much as possible. The binder posts used to connect the panels doubled as a raceway for the electric outlets which were pre-wired and built into the posts.
