Architectural Excellence : Designed to deliver a high tech learning space all while reducing the environmental impact, Mendota Elementary is the cutting edge in building construction and learning technologies. Three separate classroom wings all boast covered hallways, designed and constructed by Meehleis Modular. Allowing for subdued day lighting of the classrooms while shielding the structures for more efficient climate control. Placed centrally around a large play area, the three wings also make the most of the outdoor space allowing for outdoor learn as well as ample play space.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Cost and efficiency were main concerns of the clients and our innovative permanent modular construction techniques coupled with our 100% gird neutral, solar powered, facility allowed us to deliver a top quality building while saving them money. The structures can be test fitted in house mitigating on site complications and the short install period allowed site construction to move ahead while the three classroom wings were constructed off site.

Green Building Description : Constructed with recycled metals and wood from sustainable forests the classrooms meet the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) standards as well as Cal Green design requirements. Incorporating 8” Hardie-Plank siding, efficient metal seamed roofing, and large shaded hallway corridors have allowed for an energy efficient building even in the hot central valley. Classrooms also include intelligent LED lighting that measures the amount of light coming through the windows and adjusts the light banks to optimize their efficiency.

Technical Innovation : Mendota Elementary delivers a 21st century learning environment with interactive smart board projectors, complete with integrated cabinetry work that enables students to write on them while being captured by the projector. The smart boards are also tied in with an expansive A/V system that includes microphones for the teachers as well as the ability to project images from the teacher's desk onto the screen.
