Architectural Excellence : A major metropolitan hospital required additional outpatient space to house three separate clinics. It was important that the clinic projected the hospital’s image as a high end healthcare provider so exterior finishes were used that blended with the other structures on the property.
The urban campus was already crowded so strategic site placement was critical to maximize clinic space and minimized loss of valuable parking space while maintaining zoning setbacks. The building was designed with rooftop HVAC units to further reduce the space impact on the campus and maintain the appeal of the building.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Constructing the building with a UL approved one hour rated wall system in halls and open areas we were able to eliminate the need for fire sprinklers yet still meet the requirements for the use group.
In addition to advance insulation packages the building is oriented to maximize ambient light exposure. The building was also equipped with motion sensors on the light switches to reduce the lighting loads in unused rooms.

Technical Innovation : As a temporary medical clinic it was important to the customer that all applicable regulations were met yet patients were as comfortable as possible. To that end the floor framing was designed in a fashion to reduce the finish floor height thereby reducing the length of the ADA ramp making access easier for wheel chair bond patients.
The building was designed with an extended module creating a spacious entryway for clinic patients. This eliminated the need to construct a wind block on site yet it had little impact on the freight and site work project costs.
