Architectural Excellence : Stat Oil Hydro, a Norwegian based oil and gas giant had one primary desire; to take their accommodation facility to a level unseen in the history of the Alberta oil sands. The Leismer Lodge project located northwest of Conklin, Alberta, Canada, fabricated and installed by Northgate Industries Ltd. fulfilled that desire. The 468 room, architecturally designed work force accommodation facility is comprised of six (6), 2-story wings that surround a central core structure with a design based on the Dubai Palm Island. The environment provided in the living quarters is one of an executive hotel that is achieved by using stunning visual accents, modern color combinations and mechanical systems integrated into the architectural design.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Green building technologies and LEED principles were utilized throughout every aspect of this project. The domestic heating and cooling systems utilize highly efficient fixtures generating a 90% efficiency rating. All domestic water system fixtures and appliances are low volume water use and all of the electrical fixtures were selected for their power saving properties. The architectural, mechanical and electrical systems are complete in each module eliminating the need for core system installation in the field, constituting a tremendous cost savings to the client. From environmentally friendly construction materials and building practices to energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, this Green Council approved facility met the budget and time constraints required by Stat Oil Hydro.

Technical Innovation : The technical design parameter was simple; please four of the five senses while keeping the architectural standard intact.
• A more visually friendly and warmer environment was created by incorporating structural components and mechanical systems into the interior design.
• Individual module room design created a sound transmission rating that virtually eliminated room to room noise.
• The individual climate control system provides separate comfort controls for each occupant.
• The mechanical system provides for an abundance of fresh air for enhanced occupant health and comfort, nearly twice the industry standard.
