Architectural Excellence : 60 modular flats consisting of 300 standard steel frame relocatable units for an overall of 360 dwellers were prefabricated at Kan-Bud’s workshop in Poland and assembled at their destination point Leipzig, Germany. The 15 two-storey buildings, each comprising 4 turnkey apartments serve as a residential estate and were designed and assembled to meet the city’s needs on providing housing for workforce, students, long-term motel clients or asylum seekers. The self-existing container-based facility features washrooms, sleepers, kitchenettes, technical boxes, rec-rooms, common meeting areas, etc. The fire-proof living quarters were transported to their destination by standard truck means. Offsite construction was the perfect option for building the lodges due to the urgent demand for emergency housing. The fully-equipped pavilions hold furnishings and media installations: kitchen equipment, completely regulated water and heating systems, IT, TV, etc.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : The Leipzig project is a 95% factory-built facility, a factor which substantially contributes to a cost-effective approach. Heating is provided from the local heat and power station which respectively reduces costs. In order to save energy all buildings feature not only interior and exterior LED lighting, but also low energy consumption 3-layer window panes. The excellent building thermal insulation system reduces heating power energy. Also, transport costs were cut as each unit is of standard dimension for European heavy truck logistics. The facility was designed to have easy and short onsite assembly process as labor in Germany is at premium cost. The roofing and corridors were designed for a quick drop and connection on site. Mechanical, plumbing and electric fixtures are chosen for their low volume and energy use abilities. To suit the city’s architectural trend, a modern color-design of the estate was exercised to preserve the greenery on construction site upon unit delivery.

Technical Innovation : Sustainability, innovation and environment protection has always been key at our plant. This project’s special feature is undoubtedly its F30 fire protection system meeting all EU codes with a fire resistance time span of 30 mins. Central alarm systems are set in all buildings; the ceilings, frame construction and walls correspond to EU requirements, also special paint was applied for fire proof systems. All the buildings operate on one fire control panel which automatically notifies the local fire department in case of any such incidents. Moreover, Kan-Bud applied Italian produced windows boasting a short installation period and holding enhanced insulation parameters. The latter comprise high quality complete component windows with blinds and nets. Additionally, the room doors are equipped with electronic locks. The facility has improved ventilation properties and an automatically-driven combo system in case of water shut-downs.
