Additional Info
Award Winner : ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd.
Architectural Excellence : The goal of this project was to create a comfortable, homey and relocatable lodging solution that was also cost-efficient. ATCO Structures & Logistics (ASL) achieved this through detailed and creative camp design and a thorough material selection process. Design features include high ceilings, drop ceilings, birch-ply finishes, maintenance-free materials throughout, plenty of lighting and large walkways. An efficient site layout reduces the travel distance for residents between rooms and common areas. The design also reduced potential bottlenecks by including large entryways and reception, multiple serving lines and a separate sandwich pick up line in the dining area. The facility includes a theater/orientation room, numerous bathrooms, men’s and women’s fitness areas, a lounge with pool tables, ping pong, shuffle boards and many televisions, a commissary, an ample and well designed mud room, a luggage storage room and a large coffee shop.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The lodge uses high-efficiency, roof-mounted make-up air systems to optimize the heating, cooling and climate zones in the main building. The facility’s design minimized the requirement for utility distribution, decreasing costs.
