Architectural Excellence : Designed to meet the local association requirements and the owner’s stylized image while retaining features that allow easy relocation. The outstanding exterior incorporated unique finishes, material textures, trim style, attractive color scheme, and surface modulations to provide excellent visual appeal. The owner, practitioners and patients enjoy a high quality small-scale yet full-featured clinic and pharmacy, very suitable for new market locations. The user-friendly layout included a waiting/reception area, four exams, two provider offices, a nurses station, clean and soiled materials space, restrooms and pharmacy. The three 12’x70’ modules provide efficient factory construction and ease of future relocations. The HVAC, electrical, mansards, and awning features transport without removal. Visitors enjoy a visually pleasing modern exterior and enter a comfortable stylish interior that utilizes contemporary finishes and color schemes designed to match the future permanent facility.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The design’s cost-effectiveness rationale focused on two areas. The first was the efficient use of resources in each future relocation. This includes minimal removal of any finishes at marriage lines, limited roof penetrations, HVAC units, mansards and awnings that ship fully connected to the units. A unique end-wall marriage line close-up feature was designed to allow the factory to weather-seal the siding edges to aluminum trim, facilitating each future seam seal while at the same time providing a trim feature to match the window and door trim styles. The second rationale focused on designing a floor plan layout that provided efficient user flow within a design using three 12’x70’ units, one of the most cost-efficient unit sizes for offsite construction, transportation and installation. The deck, ramps and stairs were also designed to be reusable in sections on future relocation sites.

Technical Innovation : The project utilized offsite construction to complete as much of the structure as possible in the factory to shorten the onsite installation timeline and overall schedule. This allowed the owner to meet a challenging commitment to an opening date that secured a state licensing requirement for expansion into the new market. The 95% completed building greatly reduced the site impact of material deliveries, construction work force requirements, and site disturbance. With future relocations in mind, the design included two efficient end-wall-mounted HVAC packaged units along with one electrical main distribution panel that connected to subpanels located on the second and their unit end walls, and exterior finishes and awnings that transport intact, eliminating the waste involved in removal and reconstruction at each future relocation site.
