Architectural Excellence : The Human Services Campus was provided to assist individuals who were affected by the tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri on May 22, 2011. The HSC allows people to visit one location to get all of the information that they need to help them integrate back into the community. A total of four units provide 2,688 square feet of modular space. This building is conveniently located within the FEMA housing community. This space provides seven offices. Each office houses a representative from a specific government agency. The building includes seven counseling offices, three ADA restrooms, one storage room, one serving area/childcare area, and two coffee bars. All renovations were completed on site.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : It is estimated that this building will remain on site for 13 months. The use of two separate doublewide buildings benefited the customer by providing a high sound deadening between the childcare area and the counseling offices. This was achieved by setting the two modular buildings as tightly as the roof would allow. Hunter saved the customer money by providing all facets of the project in house. Services that Hunter Saak provided included: working with the city of Joplin to obtain all required permits, all utility connections, ADA deck and ramp, complete parking lot with ADA lot, and concrete sidewalks. Technical Innovation : This project was located within a city that was destroyed by an F-5 tornado. The materials were not easy to obtain. Hunter utilized local merchants surrounding the Joplin area to procure materials for the building renovations. As with any natural disaster area, time was of the essence. Hunter used an existing stock classroom double wide and an existing stock office building double wide. These units were remodeled on site to meet the customer’s specific needs. There were no utilities located on the property. Hunter brought all utilities from across the property and a road into the building. Hunter Saak Modular was pleased to be able to provide a modular building that serves as a community center for displaced families.
