Architectural Excellence : This building is a single level, mixed use office complex. It was constructed using three 14' wide and 60' long modules installed side by side to make a 42' wide x 60' long office complex. This layout allowed for a quick site installation and limited site work once the office arrived. This site was very remote and the cost of building is very prohibitive. As such this office was designed around being a limited site work installation. Spaces were kept inside the independent modules as much as possible and the majority of exterior finishes were completed in plant with simple 'buttoning up' details designed for the site. The building includes a mix of closed and open use offices, paper and copy spaces, a boardroom, lunchroom and bathroom facilities. This complex was designed to replace several mobile trailer units where employees would have to go outside to meet or speak with each other, go to the washrooms or meetings. This complex represents a great improvement to onsite efficiencies.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : If the customer needs to move the units in the future it will be easy to do - the same 'button up' style finishes will allow for a smooth tear down and relocation. The cost effectiveness of this build was centered around reducing site works. Drywall with battens was used so that crack fill repairs were not an issue. EPDM roofing that could be 90% plant installed with finish curb connection for roofing. Steel siding was installed up the the end of the unit with a special connecting trim on site. The owner also foresees a large future savings in heating and cooling of one building with large bard units and central AC replacing multiple window AC units, electric heat and small buildings with alot of exterior walls throughout the site. The major cost saving of this project is the reduced waste of motion and time employees will have being in once place together.

Technical Innovation : In this case the factory built construction with a focus on completing as much as possible in the factory truly won the day. This remote site has prohibitive construction costs and high security meaning alot of challenges getting in and out of the site daily. The module construction saved them site costs, site time and the end result allowed many different resources to work together rather than the previous 'trailer village'
