Island Village Montessori Charter School, Inc.
Additional Info
Award Winner : M Space Holdings LLC
Architectural Excellence : M Space worked closely with charter school authorities and the site design team to create a 14, 979 square foot school complex that would provide separate Elementary and Middle School buildings in close proximity to one another. The Elementary School was designed to form a horseshoe shape totaling 8747 square feet. A separate set of modules were assembled forming an expansive 6232 square foot Middle School facility. The buildings provide an open classroom environment with large classrooms and oversized windows that provide abundant natural lighting to compliment the Montessori education style. A mixture of sheet vinyl flooring and commercial grade carpet finishes gives the school attractive, durable and low maintenance flooring alternatives. Large storage areas are located in each classroom.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Cost efficiencies were maximized by the careful site design planning and the ability of modular buildings to be manufactured, delivered and installed in less than 100 days. The accelerated timeline could only be achieved with modular construction. This approach not only had cost savings within the project, but enabled the customer to benefit from increased revenue through increased enrollment
