Award Winner : Vesta Modular
Architectural Excellence : To accommodate the increasing educational enrollment in the Little Five Points area of Atlanta, IMA needed additional classroom space before the start of the school on August 6th. The building needed to complement the existing 100-year-old school building as well as architecturally pleasing to the surrounding area of 100 plus year old houses that encompass the area. VESTA met with the school Headmaster and Owners to devise a plan and design that would blend in with the area and would provide clear access to the main facility as well as provide future growth potential.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : VESTA Modular, Titan Modular Systems, and International Montessori Academy collaborated on the building specifications to create a cost-effective facility to meet the needs of the Academy in regard to the budget restraints, while still meeting the community and State of Georgia Educational Requirements. This combined with the short amount of time until the facility needed to be operational for the first day of school. While a site constructed building was initially considered, the 8-month time frame, as well as the 32% increase in construction cost over modular construction precluded it as a viable option. The modular building process provided for speed in design and construction in a cost-effective method including bypassing local building inspections and weather delays which provided a 2 ½ month total project completion time.
