Integrated Wellsite
Additional Info
Award Winner : Alta-Fab Structures Ltd.
Architectural Excellence : The Integrated Wellsite will be the future standard for sites in the oil and gas industry; the innovative design of the complex is the first of a kind. The configuration and number of modules will reduce the site footprint while simultaneously bringing consultants and engineers together to enhance on-site communication and promote a safer, more efficient work environment.
Exterior attributes include the visually appealing roofline, and roll shutters for privacy and security.
The interior of these buildings have also been engineered and designed to perform as one unit. With all the comforts of home, including individual heating/cooling systems, pillowtop mattresses, spacious washrooms with full-sized shower enclosures and kitchens complete with dining areas, the occupant experience is elevated.
The office space includes leather furniture, microwaves, refrigerators and oversized desk areas with all the necessary amenities and sufficient storage space.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The Integrated Wellsite was built to utilize every square foot of the modular’s footprint while also achieving real estate savings and enhanced inter-team communications. It was designed to be a cost-effective complex from manufacturing to operations.
Savings from enhanced energy efficiency were achieved through multiple means: the use of triple-glazed windows, Ecowhite roofing membrane, a single mechanical room to service the entire complex, and high-efficiency hot water heaters. Manufacturing costs were lowered through our in-house door line (produced at a lower cost and with a longer service life than other commercially available doors) and our in-house welding shop.
One of the greatest advantages offered is the reduced footprint (resulting in less clearing needed). Also, mobilization and demobilization labor and material costs have been reduced as the result of the design to bring connections to one point.

Technical Innovation : The Integrated Wellsite was created as a modern space built to push the technical aspects of remote living beyond current expectations. The complex's mechanical and electrical systems were designed to service the entire complex from a single connection. The system is set to evacuate, fill and connect at a single connection as well. The mechanical room also utilizes high-efficiency hot water heaters and copper manifolds.
An innovative communication package was developed for the Integrated Wellsite, giving each bedroom and workstation the ability to direct dial out or call internally. CATT 6 wiring was utilized for additional communication.
To ensure a quiet, comfortable stay, the design utilizes sound attenuating materials such as soundboard, drywall, and double wall partitions. Additionally, the P-TAC heating and cooling system with individual thermostat controls results in a controlled climate.
