Architectural Excellence : A church was in need additional classroom space for Sunday school and weekly committee meetings. The church is on the counties historic registry. The historic society held a hearing and required an application to build on the site. Architectural elements of surrounding buildings on the campus were taken into consideration for the approval. The site was limited to areas of construction as the line of site was from the road would have to remain unchanged and landscaping was needed to shield any new construction. A long narrow portion of the site was chosen. A single wide modular building was built and designed to match the exterior appearance of the surrounding buildings. Lap siding, grouped windows and a pitched shingled roof was the visual quality the historic society required and the selected architectural design of the modular.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Cost effectiveness and speed determined the choice of modular as the site work could be started the same time the modular was produced off site. Shingled roof with R-30 insulation, poly wrapped and cement siding insured shelter from the elements as well as heat loss / gain in the building was maintained. Insulated French Light doors and large double pane windows with low-e glazing where choose to bring natural light into the space. High performance lighting such as T-8 lighting with continuous dimming ballasts ensures high light levels, but low energy use. The folding partitions allowed the space to be used for small or large classrooms thus making it a cost conscious investment for the church. This modular building was designed for its relocatability so that once funding for a building additional was complete it could be moved off site.

Technical Innovation : The building was constructed with a shingled A-framed roof system with the greatest pitch available for transportation. The building arrived to site completed with papered drywall walls, textured ceiling, carpeted flooring, interior trim installed and doors and windows hung. A folding partition wall was installed so the building could be broken up into three rooms or used as one large space. There was one electric panel box installed to the back side of the building in the electric / IT closet closest to the power on the site. Marker and tack boards were installed at the factory to reduce labor costs in the field.
