High River Emergency Office Complex

Architectural Excellence : In June of 2013, High River, Alberta was hit with a devastating flood that destroyed much of the town's infrastructure, including the Town Hall. ATCO was contacted to provide rapid response units to allow the government employees to begin the process of rebuilding the town. Due to the urgency of the request, ATCO used all available fleet units for the High River project, including units from other locations throughout Alberta. Standard units were used as well as ATCO's Signature Series units. The Signature Series units feature an upgraded commercial appearance with wood siding, commercial doors and large 48" x 60" windows for a bright work environment.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The large windows allow ample light into the units, reducing the amount of required interior lighting. Due to the tight timeline for the project, there was no time to provide regular maintenance and service to some of the units. The units were put in place and made useable, and the service work was performed on site as soon as possible. Additionally, ATCO reduced the rental, transportation and installation rates to decrease the strain on the client.

Technical Innovation : The site for the office complex was very small, so extreme care and attention to detail was required to ensure the best possible set up. With only one access point to the site, the deliveries had to be carefully coordinated to ensure the right units were delivered at the right time. Buildings were oriented so exterior doors faced each other, easing access between units and creating a cohesive community feel. All units have built in washrooms, for the comfort of those using the space. ATCO built wheel chair accessible wooden walkways to ease access between buildings, even on snowy winter days. ATCO also completed full electrical hook ups and data and voice wiring and connections.
