Architectural Excellence : This new elementary school campus was designed to educate 1000 students. As a two story single building campus, the compact configuration of spaces provides for a more efficient use of land by reducing the building footprint. The long linear floor plan allows for better circulation, good student control during travel time and the interior corridors provide protection from inclement weather. The large exterior high performance windows allow for better daylighting as well as a reduced dependence on artificial lighting thereby lowering energy costs.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : This building provided a cost effective solution for the school district. The two story design and the compact grouping of the classrooms created an efficient dual loaded corridor that significantly reduced the overall surface area of building. This reduced the initial capital costs as well as the future operational costs of heating and cooling by having a larger overall envelope. 81% of classrooms were configured with the same design features that decreased the overall delivery time and production costs. The exterior envelope of 3 part exterior cement plaster creates low maintenance and durable finish. The windows are dual glazed for energy performance and impact resistant for hurricane safety
