Architectural Excellence : In order to meet the design and functional requirements set forth by the end-user, Silver Creek’s design and engineering team developed a fully customized modular building solution. The project consists of 3 separate buildings which house 7 classrooms, student and staff restrooms, and 3,200 GSF of administrative space. The building’s exterior consists of stucco with tile accents and aluminum window and door systems. The exterior walls were built in multiple planes and heights to allow for the use of clerestory windows which are combined with shade devices and accents to create a striking architectural impression while being well integrated into the architectural character of the existing site. The final building reflects the coordinated efforts of the client, design team and construction team and presents a design focused experience.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Due to the extreme schedule constraints, modular construction was selected for the project as a means to meet the project delivery schedule requirements while also maximizing the available budget. The architect and district worked closely with Silver Creek’s design and engineering team to capture the efficiencies of the modular construction process wherever possible. The use of collaboration early in the design process allowed the analysis and consideration of cost saving design changes at the beginning of the project so that the benefit could be maximized. By maximizing the work that could be done in factory environment, the time and cost advantage of the modular construction process was exceptionally apparent. The accelerated nature of modular construction allowed for the removal of existing classroom space and the installation of permanent modular structures over the summer recess without any impact to the school's operating schedule.

Technical Innovation : The requirements set forth by the end-user resulted in the development of a highly specialized modular structure. The irregular nature of the roof shapes and wall heights resulted in the use of various building frames types to meet the design intent. The classrooms feature ceilings heights as tall as 14’ which are constructed of specialized fiber panels that control sound in the room while reflecting light from the large clerestory windows. The administrative building utilizes varying roof shapes to accommodate vaulted ceilings and clerestory windows in the lobby while also screening the mechanical equipment. All lighting is controlled by occupancy sensors which automatically turn off the lights when the rooms are not in use. Multi-level switching for all light fixtures allows for the reduction of electrical lighting use when adequate daylight is available.
