Architectural Excellence : One of the hottest and driest deserts in the world, the Atacama Desert was a spectacular location yet again to build one of our projects with metal siding and bright green colouring. It was designed for a 25 year life span and consists of an owner’s administration building with office conference room, orientation room, small kitchen and a library. The plan is based on four wings and includes a 24 foot central core atrium. Ceramic tile encompasses the atrium floors providing two functions for this building, one to give access to the side of the office and the other to utilize the space for local art expositions. Also incorporated in this space is the main entrance and lobby. There is a covered walkway with facade of the building having a Mansard roof. There will also be a garden provided in the future in between the wings.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Special built in features include skylights in the hallway at every ten feet to save on energy costs as well as provide natural light. Units were built in Santiago and transported over 800 miles through Chilean territory. Having this project built in the Tecno Fast ATCO S.A. manufacturing facility, allowed us to reduce costs and build in the most efficient way. With numerous mines in the area, finding skilled tradesmen and local workers is scarce. Also, obtaining material on site would have been challenging as resources are not always available or cost efficient, thus building in our own controlled environment allowed the safety of workers to be better monitored and ensured production would not be compromised due to extreme climates.

Technical Innovation : The corridor wings are designed in such a way to allow each private office window rays of natural light. The atrium is site built with panelized wall panels and tubular steel columns with open web curved steel joists. The air conditioning is being done by duct free split system.
