Additional Info
Award Winner : ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd.
Architectural Excellence : The G8-G20 Summits were held in Huntsville and Toronto, Canada in June of 2010. The Integrated Security Unit, a team comprised of members from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other law enforcement authorities were responsible for the security of this event. It was the largest deployment of Security Personnel in Canadian history. To support their mission, ATCO and ARAMARK Remote Services were awarded the contract to provide temporary modular accommodation and services. The timeline from contract award to completion was very short and it provided ASL the opportunity to demonstrate its capacity to deliver under extremely tight deadlines. Almost 800 units were transported from Alberta to Huntsville – a distance of 1900 miles - and installed over a four month period.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : ATCO Structures & Logistics used existing fleet for this project eliminating the cost of manufacturing new units. This efficient use of existing material saved allowed ATCO Structures & Logistics to meet the tight deadlines. By choosing to use modular units for this remote location, the environmental impact was far less than building on site.
