Additional Info
Award Winner : Modular Genius, Inc.
Architectural Excellence : Fairfax County Virginia contracted Modular Genius to install a new 240 SF pre-engineered modular building connected directly to an existing bus terminal. The space was designed as a rest area for drivers to decompress between routes and shifts. Modular Genius’ scope included site prep work, installation of the landing and railing system, canopy, relocation of site storm clean out, new feeders to connect to existing electrical main and existing fire alarm control panel, tie-in of the fire control system, construction of related finishes lighting, power, and signage.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : If the Fairfax County Quiet Room were site built, the construction would have had to take place on weekends or after hours due to the heavy bus movement and pedestrian traffic. Use of modular construction practices eliminated these special requirements and thus reduced overall construction costs.
