Architectural Excellence : This unit was built to provide remote accommodation at a drilling location and was designed to create a “home away from home.” To accomplish this, all the comforts of home have been included. This unit was designed to a cold weather winter spec and included an upgraded package of interior and exterior materials and equipment. Special material finishes were used to give the unit a “homey” feel. The unit consists of two private bedroom w/ built in queen size bed, shared bathroom w/ full tub and shower, hardwood floors, 4-burner electric range, stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, kitchen island w/bar stools, built in stereo, 42” plasma television w/ surround sound, central vacuum system, washing machine and electric dryer. The office portion of the unit consists of a private entrance, half bath, L-shaped built in desk, heavy duty wood filing cabinets, overhead cabinets, and 26” flat screen television.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Units were built to maximize living space but keep transportation costs to a minimum. Keeping the width under 14’ allows transportation costs to be reduced as you eliminate the need for an escort during transportation in most states. The unit is insulated with R-21 for the exterior walls and R-38 for the floor and roof which maintains indoor temperatures without having to constantly change the thermostat. This reduces the energy consumption of the unit. The unit is furnished with Energy Star appliances - a government-backed symbol for energy efficient appliances and makes it easy for consumers to identify energy-efficient products.

Technical Innovation : In the initial design phase, it was made clear that this unit should function and feel more like a comfortable living space than an office. The angled wall in the living area opened the space up and makes the unit live much larger than it appears from the exterior. Some key technical Innovations include a built In central vacuum system, propane fireplace, interior 12-volt charger, self closing cabinet door hardware, and an IPod docking stereo system (built-in).
