Architectural Excellence : Lapinha da Serra is located in the Brazilian Highlands, known for its natural beauty, wildlife, regional food, waterfalls and hiking trails. This bungalow was carefully designed to accent the surrounding living nature and provide guests with a memorable experience. Two modules were configured side by side, integrated with wooden deck to provide an open floor concept and used colors to distinguish each space. All in harmony with its surroundings.
This master suite has been designed to be replicated throughout the property allowing for expansion of the resort. Its total area of 452ft², each module area 161,5ft². More than just a physical space, we shared an idea, a model to be easily adapted in other situations. Different layouts create different spaces that create different stories.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The Project was conceived using two 15m² (161,4ft²) retrofitted standard modules. Creating a master suite with a bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom in a 323ft² space, was a challenge to optimized space and reduce costs related to onsite assembly. Therefore, the plumbing system that supports the kitchen and the bathroom was placed inside a single wall, that served as the main connection on site, also leaving the rest of the space free to get all the furniture, electronics and kitchen accessories. The layout allowed for a easy-to-connect solution, a base plate attached to specific point of the structure and paint was applied instead of other sheathing material, aiming for minimum on site work.
The units travelled over 800 KM through an in-house freight company, it was delivered unassembled to a near by branch and later staged in National Park of Lapinha da Serra, MG.

Green Building Description : The walls are engineered to provide thermoacoustic comfort and the module that serves as a bedroom/living room is surrounded by movable glass doors, allowing natural lighting and natural air circulation to come in through ceiling of 3,0m high.
The choice of materials was key. Instead of board system finishes, this project used eco-friendly paint and WPC wood deck. This reduced the amount of materials of the building and waste.
A logistics plan was placed to lower the amount of rework done on the units. The modules were built at CMC Modules according to the executive project. Afterwards, delivered to its final destination in Lapinha da Serra, Minas Gerais, minimized the need of water, cement and concrete.

Technical Innovation : The project was built on CMC, an ISO 9001 certified factory, using semi-automated production lines in a controlled environment, resulting in little or no waste. All modules are produced in work stations, ergonomically approved to provide better quality life for employees.
The structure are made out of steel, giving a sturdy base for pile foundation, reducing the amount of co2. The outer and interior walls were built using panelized system, each layer designed to provide thermoacoustic comfort and tested to decrease the propagation of flames. Also, Higher ceiling of 3,0m (9’10”) provides better ventilation.
Due to COVID's impact on supply chain, the project contemplated new and refurbished elements, which to ensure future supply. Modules go through a rigid QA/QC before shipping to its destination, later staged in nearby location to minimize disturbances in wildlife. Modules are engineered in a way to allow of multiple assemblies and relocation. This was key for approval of permits.
