EASYGO RESTROOM FACILITY

Additional Info

Award Winner : Wilmot Modular Structures, Inc.

Architectural Excellence : The EasyGo™ is a 6’x21’ self-contained, ADA mobile family changing room designed to be used at events by those caring for children/adults with special needs. A .024 white aluminum exterior has panhead screws and covered sidewall exhaust fan to provide a smooth surface for vinyl graphics. A handicapped ramp folds down to expose a personnel door. A side room rollup door allows access to the holding tanks. They are filled/emptied via exterior connections. A rack on the hitch holds propane tanks and generator. Axles are retractable via cranks allowing the building to sit on the ground. The most unique interior feature is a hydraulic adult change table. User Instructions are displayed in English/Spanish. All ADA fixtures have sensors. The interior walls are washable with a neutral color to allow persons with highly sensitive to lights/sound to have a quiet room. The restroom floor is covered with Raised Coin rubber to prevent slippage but ease of wheelchair movement.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : The users of the EasyGo™ are organizations that host public events and want to offer an alternative restroom facility to families caring for members with special needs. Low maintenance materials were used to help ease cost of repairs. The exterior is designed to allow graphics for sponsorships which helps subsidize the cost to those organizations – most being non-profits. The building was designed through the partnership of the Maggie’s Light Foundation and Wilmot Modular Structures. Families were surveyed to determine the issues they faced, and C&B Manufacturing along with Wilmot’s and Maggie’s Light’s input designed a unit that includes features to solve those issues. The building is easily transported and versatile in how it can be powered so it can be set up both inside or outside for an event.

Technical Innovation : The EasyGo™ was designed to solve the problem many families caring for members with special needs face when they go out. They are unable to attend events as a family because there are no restrooms that can truly accommodate their needs. Adults with diapers, people with developmental disabilities needing a quiet room, mothers that want to breastfeed babies in private and older adults needing assistance are able to use this facility because of several unique features. The building is able to use an 8’ ADA Folding ramp because of the retractable axles that lower the building to the ground. An adult size change table that adjusts hydraulically allows for easy transfer from a wheelchair to the table. Motion sensors for lights and plumbing fixtures allow for resource and energy efficiency. The building is self contained with holding tanks and can be powered by either plugging into a receptacle or using a generator fueled by (2) propane tanks on the front.
