Architectural Excellence : Designed as a visual showcase for the Covina Valley United School District, the Covina Media and Library Center is a single story building that helped to upgrade the look of the existing campus. As a media technology center, the interior incorporates high-end materials, utilizing multicolor vinyl tackable walls, dropped soffet lighting, and interior commercial sliding storefront doors. The Media and Library Center is fully equipped with a 50 computer station technology lab complete with smart-boards and multimedia projectors. Special features included custom dropped pendent lighting, custom cabinetry and molding millwork, a fully stocked storage and work center, high-end patterned designer carpet, and state-of-the-art technology throughout. The building is designed with a steep pitched roof system with a metal fabricated roof, stainless steel columns, and a stucco exterior finish. The Media and Library Center meets all Title 24 requirements mandated by the state.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : By designing and implementing the “in factory” steel hinged roof method, the roof structure requires less time and money to erect, creating cost savings for the client. Modular construction passes direct savings on to the customer through accelerated construction methods and minimalized material waste. The quick set-up results in less down time and fewer site disruptions. The buildings' natural lighting, motion sensors, and P8 lighting systems provide significant energy efficiencies.

Technical Innovation : The steep pitched roof design requires a steel hinged roof system for the building. The uniqueness in the hinged roof design is in the ability to have a collapsed system that is easily transportable. Once the building modules are set on site, the steel hinged roof system is erected to complete the steep pitched roof. The concrete floor system is installed in the factory as is the state-of-the-art wiring that runs throughout the building.
