Architectural Excellence : This 3,584 sq. ft. modular classroom building was built to address additional campus-wide classroom space needed for a private college located in Salem, Oregon. The campus building was architecturally designed to blend with surrounding areas. Combining no-groove fiber cement panels, clear cedar batts and cement lap siding under the windows and on the gabled ends allowed for the building to blend into the environment while at the same time being functional. The classroom has a double-door entry into a foyer that gives access to the four classrooms, a storage room and a mechanical room. The 9' x 12' covered entry, double ½ lite entry doors, light painted tape and textured interior walls, 4'x4' windows and nine-foot ceilings help make the building open and inviting.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : The college decided to proceed with modular construction in order to meet timeline and budget constraints. The building had to be occupied with 40 days. Proceeding with modular construction allowed for reduced site disruption, increased enrollment and a cost-effective method to meet their project constraints.

Technical Innovation : This complex has a mechanical room that houses two gas furnaces that allows for ease of maintenance and repair. The mechanics are a duct-based thermostatic control working in conjunction with the economizer system to integrate occupancy and equipment heat loads to help maintain an optimum temperature. All the interior walls were insulated all the way to the rafters.
